Craftsmanship & Natural Materials Fulfill Client’s Dream for a Warm & Rustic Home in Jackson Hole, WY

CREATIVE BUILDING SOLUTIONS

This home began as a conversation by a boulder. Partner Chad Grohne met Creative Building Solutions’ client on a wooded lot to discuss the vision for a custom home to be built there. Much admired by the homeowner, that massive boulder was to remain in place as a hinge point of the project, to echo throughout the design.

A masterful woodworker himself, the client desired a rustic style, warm and inviting, with contemporary flair. It was important to him that the home be as usable as it is beautiful. Such that tromping in with muddy boots wouldn’t raise an eyebrow and every space is comfortable. In line with his love of wood, they decided reclaimed timber would lend the perfect look and feel and a wonderful backdrop for the homeowner’s handmade wood furniture.

Situated slope-side, the ski-in-ski-out home provides fun and convenience for winter sports and offers gorgeous views of the backcountry and engaging outdoor experiences year-round. A soaring trestle entry welcomes visitors to the front door. At the same time, beamed ceilings, plentiful windows and expansive porches provide ample light. Artfully angled ceilings are visually interesting and enhance the sense of spaciousness.

Immense Buffalo Jump Moss Rock stone walls reflect that giant boulder that started it all. Paired with the reclaimed materials brought in from the US and Canada, the stonework creates the desired rustic patina and a warm sensory experience of time and place.

Greeting visitors from the corner of the drive, the boulder maintains its place, a keystone of its environment and the home’s design.
