The Cape house finds its inspiration in the gentle hills of the Gulf Islands and evokes the form and movement of the ocean itself through its sweeping geometry.

The three main pavilions cascade down-slope toward the ocean, linked conceptually and physically by the wave roof that encompasses the main circulation and stairs.

The upper and lower pavilions house the master suite, guest rooms, indoor pool lounge, theatre and games room, while the middle volume comprises the more public spaces – the kitchen, living and dining rooms, and the large pantry and prep kitchen.

The measured geometry of the three pavilions stands in stark contrast with the grand, undulating form of the entry and circulation space – its complex form made possible by advanced 3D modelling technology and cutting-edge fabrication methods.

“Working with Grant Architecture Studio was a true pleasure. This was a challenging project and the line of communication was always open. While Paul’s designs present certain challenges, the results speak for themselves. I would be pleased to work with the GA team again.”
