Pantone Color of the Year

Pantone Color of the Year

Get ready for a dose of inspiration from Pantone’s newly released 2018 Color of the Year: “a dramatically provocative and thoughtful purple shade”, says Pantone. With the right placement this fresh yet dramatic shade will surely add depth, drama, and sophistication to any interior.

Ultra Violet 18-3838

As designers, we look for inspiration everywhere we go; we can see how this years’ color – Ultra Violet – has impacted so many creative outlets around us. Whether this vibrant hue be found in gorgeous floral groupings and succulents trending this wedding season, or fashion as this years most talked about statement, even within the music industry with the passing of our famous icons; Prince, David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix and Gord Downie, this color has been surrounding us in more ways than one.

We look forward to this time of season as we get to play with the highlighted color of the year – and introduce all that it represents into our home. This year, take risks big and small. If you are hesitant to commit to color, we recommend introducing this years tone through fresh florals or accent pillows. This is a great way to make a prudent statement with this year’s color.

If you are ready to embrace change and love what this year’s Pantone color represents, we know just how you can bring in its cool demeanor in any atmosphere. Try incorporating a playful vintage rug with hints of dark purple, and contrasting pink. Recover an upholstered headboard or bench with a gorgeous crushed velvet for added drama. Employ the rich, jewel hues of purple paired with deep dark charcoal elements and accenting the color wheel by adding burnt-oranges, coppers, and pinks throughout.

You won’t regret integrating its dramatic and thoughtful presence as 2018’s color of the year. We look forward to the year ahead recognizing this shade and how we are all impacted by it. It’s been noted that Ultra Violet is reflective of ingenuity; as a society we can certainly use more of this in our future.
